Threads for YouTube - Chrome Add-on for Reddit Comments on YouTube
Threads for YouTube is a free Chrome add-on developed by a-bravo that allows users to view reddit comments on YouTube videos. With this add-on, users can easily switch between a YouTube video's related reddit posts, reddit comments, and YouTube comments.
The add-on offers several features to enhance the browsing experience. It works for all YouTube videos, including private and deleted videos. It lists all reddit posts related to the current video and allows users to sort them. Users can also easily navigate to each post's linked timestamp, if present. The add-on also provides the option to blacklist subreddits.
In addition to viewing reddit posts, users can also view each post's comments. The comments can be sorted, and users have the ability to collapse individual comments or hide/show all child comments. There is also an option to automatically collapse "stickied" u/AutoModerator comments.
Threads for YouTube is compatible with YouTube's dark mode and seamlessly switches to YouTube comments if no reddit comments are found. Users can customize the add-on's default settings in the options menu. The add-on is available for both Chrome and Firefox.
Upcoming features for Threads for YouTube include the ability to log in to save, upvote, post, and comment, as well as internationalization of the extension and store listings.
It is worth noting that Threads for YouTube does not show ads and does not collect user data. The add-on is fully open-source, and contributions are welcome on its GitHub repository.
For any problems or feature requests, users can submit them to the bug tracker on the GitHub repository.
Permissions for the add-on include access to youtube.com to add reddit comments to YouTube pages, and access to reddit.com to access reddit's API.
